Gambia has a rich selection of lavishly flavoured cuisines. Undoubtedly, a country characterized by a diverse culture has a variety of sumptuous dishes to offer. These are commonly enjoyed not only by the locals but also by foreign nationals visiting hospitable Gambian homes.

Typical Gambian cuisine is a fusion of protein and vegetable dishes based on carbohydrates dish. Common ingredients are meat (beef, chicken, goat, and lamb), seafood (fish, shrimp, and oyster), vegetables (ladies fingers, peanuts, palm oil, spinach, and cassava leaves), and rice. Fruits usually served include banana, grapefruit, mango, orange, and papaya.
